1.Project Overview
Situated amidst the rugged beauty of the Omani mountains, a private VIP client was constructing a sprawling family estate. The heart of the villa is the “Grand Majlis” (Main Hall), a double-height space featuring traditional Islamic arches and panoramic desert views. The client sought a lighting fixture that combined the grandeur of a palace with the warmth of a home, specifically requesting a design that would soften the vast space.
2.The Challenge
The client had two specific concerns:
Glare Control: In a room with such high ceilings and large windows, a traditional all-crystal chandelier could produce harsh glare or feel too “cold” for family gatherings.
Cultural Relevance: The design needed to resonate with traditional Omani aesthetics—valuing privacy, warmth, and intricate craftsmanship—rather than modern minimalism.
Maintenance in Desert Climate: The fixture needed to be sealed and finished to withstand the potential for fine desert dust without losing its luster.
3.The Tikanna Solution
We designed a bespoke “Warm-Glow” multi-tiered chandelier that perfectly balances scale and intimacy:
Custom Fabric Shades: We incorporated over 50 individual cream-colored fabric shades. These shades diffuse the LED light source, creating a soft, warm ambiance that is flattering to skin tones and comfortable for long conversations.
Antique Brass Finish: Instead of shiny gold, we used an “Antique Brushed Brass” finish. This matte, rich texture complements the wooden ceiling beams and sand-colored walls, hiding dust better than polished chrome.
Crystal Centerpiece: While the shades provide warmth, we added a cascading core of premium K9 crystals in the center and base to ensure the fixture still sparkles majestically when sunlight hits it.
4.The Result
The chandelier anchors the room with a sense of quiet nobility. The client was delighted, noting that the fabric shades created the exact “welcoming atmosphere” he desired for hosting guests. It stands as a testament to Tikanna’s ability to tailor lighting not just to a building, but to a lifestyle.
