1.Project Overview

For an exclusive VIP banquet hall (Majlis) located in a prestigious skyscraper in Abu Dhabi, the interior design team sought a lighting fixture that commanded respect and awe. The space, designed to host high-profile dignitaries, features soaring domed ceilings and panoramic views of the desert skyline. Tikanna Lighting was commissioned to engineer a massive, traditional-style chandelier that harmonizes with the intricate gold leaf detailing of the room.

2.The Challenge

The project presented unique structural and aesthetic challenges:
Scale vs. Proportion: The room has a grand vertical volume. A standard chandelier would look minuscule. The fixture needed to be massive (over 4 meters tall) yet proportional to the dining table below without overwhelming the guests.
Cultural Aesthetics: The client demanded a design that respects traditional Arabic luxury—warmth, intricacy, and gold—while integrating modern crystal elements for sparkle.
Weight Load: Due to the sheer amount of solid brass and crystal, the fixture’s weight exceeded 800kg, requiring a reinforced ceiling structural calculation.

3.The Tikanna Solution

We delivered a masterpiece of engineering and craftsmanship:
4-Tier “Pagoda” Structure: We designed a towering 4-tier structure featuring over 60 individual light points. Each arm is crafted from cast brass with a 24K gold-plated finish to resist oxidation in the humid coastal climate.
Silk Shades & Crystal Drops: To soften the light, we used custom cream-colored silk shades for a warm, diffuse glow (essential for dining). Contrasting this, hundreds of teardrop K9 crystals were suspended from the lower tiers to catch and refract the natural sunlight from the large windows.
Modular Assembly: To facilitate transport to the high floor, the chandelier was engineered in modular sections, allowing for seamless on-site assembly by our installation partners.

4.The Result

The installed chandelier acts as the majestic crown of the room. It perfectly complements the golden arches and handcrafted carpets, creating an atmosphere of absolute royalty. The client was particularly impressed by the quality of the gold plating and the grandeur it adds to their diplomatic gatherings.
